Our Wedding Venue & Reception Hall

We are excited to share our special day with you!  We fell in love with a beautiful outdoor space at Backbone State Park and knew it was the perfect spot for our wedding! The Auditorium boasts rustic tone, stunning views, with western charm and will make for an unforgettable day!  Our wedding ceremony will be held at the Auditorium in Backbone State Park beginning at 1:30 PM, Saturday October 10, 2026. We love the look and charm to our Venue and hope you will to! Please use the North Entrance to Back bone State Park for easy access to the Auditorium. A restroom is available.

The wedding reception will take place after the ceremony starting at 5:00 PM, October 10, 2026 and will be held at the 4H Building at the Buchanan County Fairgrounds in Independence, Iowa. 

If you are staying at the Country Inn and Suites, we plan to have a party bus charter you to and from the reception. 

There will be a walking taco bar available with pulled chicken and beef meat options. We will have buns and BBQ sauce available if you prefer a BBQ chicken sandwich along with sides and juice. There is a cash bar available for 21 years and older with beer and mixed drink options.

**You cannot bring your own alcoholic drinks to our reception*** please save your personal beverages for after the party.
